CAWS Most Weed-Wise Nursery in New Zealand
The Council of Australasian Weed Societies (CAWS) presents an annual award to recognise the most weed-wise plant nurseries in New Zealand and Australia. The award, instituted in 1996, acknowledges nurseries who pro-actively educate the public about plants that pose environmental risks by escaping from gardens to threaten native plants, wildlife and environments.
Winners receive a certificate, and the two over-all winners for New Zealand and Australia receive a trophy. All winners will be publicised through their local media.
Past winners:
- 2010: Kerikeri Plant Production
- 2009: Forest Flora (Wayne and Julia Bennett)
- 2008: Oratia Native Plant Nursery (Geoff Davidson)
- 2007: Kerikeri Plant Production (Julia Colgan and Tom Lindesay)
Nominations:
Nominations for the New Zealand award should be sent to the NZPPS secretary by 30 April each year. Winners will be decided by 31 May, and announced in June.
